Edith Falls is an absolutely lovely spot in Nitmiluk National Park - the entrance is separate to the Katherine Gorge side and the campground is the nicest National Park campground we have yet come across. We stayed for 2 nights here and had a lovely time. The only down side was the hundreds and hundreds of canetoads that are everywhere. There are quite a lot of hot springs in NT and this one was particularly nice - it wasn't the best known and therefore wasn't nearly so crowded as the Mataranka one. Also the pool was natural, whereas Mataranka has been concreted. We had heard from another family at Yulara that all their kids got a dysentry type sickness after swimming at Mataranka and that was enough to put Cath off. However Bitter Springs was lovely - the water was about 32 - not really that...

We had an early lunch at this iconic Aussie pub - it is really very nice with all sorts of memorabilia - they must have to take down quite a bit of it to fit the new stuff in...people nail up undies, bras, thongs, t-shirts and put stickers, currency all over the walls, ceilings and posts - it is very interesting. We had a great meal of barra bites and chips - tasted good and was very reasonable in price. After visiting the pub we had a look at the WW2 airfield ...

We are on our way north from Alice Springs toward Darwin, we will be stopping at the Devil's Marbles for a look before heading to Tennant Creek, then Daly Waters, Katharine, Kakadu and then Darwin. There will be a lot of driving between locations. I hope to update the photos in Darwin.

The Devils Marbles is just a little stop on the side of the Stuart Highway a bit south of Tennant Creek - but the rocks are quite amazing and we all had a good clamber all over them. It was lots of fun. The weather here was noticably warmer than Alice Springs - no doubt we will continue to say that as we drive further north. We are finished in Central Australia and will post home the thermals, heavy coats, uggies and winter sleeping bags from Darwin.
