We are in Kaikoura, which is a stunning little seaside town with a great backdrop of snow capped mountains. Our hostel has a Jacuzzi, swimming pool and sauna which we have taken full advantage of!
We went whale watching the other day and I (Rachel) of course felt sea sick. But i manned up and got over it as we saw a huuuuuge sperm whale (no laughing Willis), dolphins, seals and lots of native seabirds.
This place doesn't have too much else to do so we have been relaxing in front of the open fires in the evening with other guests and having a singsong with the guitar! Weather here is so varied, in the space of one song today (Bruce Springsteen's 'The River' if you are interested) it went from heavy windy downpours to bright sunshine. Evenings are always freezing though so the fires are great!
We are moving on to Nelson tomorrow ehich is supposed to be warmer (we could see our breath the other morning, I swear it is colder than England right now!) and is right next to a National Park.
Will update photos soon, internet at this hostel is from the dinosaur era so you'll have to wait!
