Yesterday we were on the bus all day travelling from Franz Josef to Queenstown stopping at Lake Matheson for photos. We even stopped at the Kawarau bungy bridge to watch some of the bus jump.
Queenstown is so much prettier than I was expecting. It's like a little european alpine village and our hostel is right on Lake Waka-tipu.
Today I worked up the courage to jump off the 3rd highest bungy in the world. The Nevis highwire bungy. Everyone seemed to think i was about 12 so this lovely couple that started talking to me became my adoptive parents for the day.
Kenny and Gail are ozzies and kenny loves the adrenalin rush. He's 61and this is his second bungy jump. He was gutted because over 65s get to go free! We took the cable car over to the jump pod and they told us that the heaviest have to go first and the lightest last! This is probably the only time that I will complain about losing weight because I had to watch everyone else jump and go last!
When it came to shuffling to the ledge i was so scared but still did a huge dive out. Free falling was so weird, I was convinced at one point that the rope surely should have stopped me plummeting by now. I kept flapping my arms as i was going down and everyone that was watching kept calling me a canary because of my bright yellow jumper. Absolutely immense.
