Banff, Huntley Castle the arduous journey home and a [email protected]#t show in Glasgow!
Hiya! Still alive and kicking here in wee Scotland. Bit of a rough one last night with Ian and Angus.......took most of the day to work it out. So sorry for the late blog entry.
Yesterday started out well though. I woke up in Cullen on the sea this morning what a wonderful little town. So friendly and quiet. The best breakfast i've had since arriving in Scotland this morning. The back bacon is sooo good here. Wandered out to the beach while the tide was out. The sand was very fine and looked almost as white as the Caribean beaches i've been on. Little cooler here though. I just stood there in the salt breeze listening to the waves pulsing in.
Well on to Banff. I spent most of the day there. Walking and driving around the town snapping as many pictures as possible. I'm hoping that Dad will be able remember some of the buildings and such from his trip with Grandad. We have a street named after the family in this small town and there is still some predominant business' in town that are owned by the family. The next time i come here i'm going to be more prepared with family information and make contacts.
Had to get back to Glasgow tonight to be ready for the early morning pickup of Kim from the airport. So i decided to try and get a little more cross country driving in and see the hills. I picked a route hoping to try and spend some time in the Cairngorms. Headed down the a97 and through Huntly. At Huntly i made a last minute decision to view the Huntly castle and i'm so glad i did. Lots of pictures for you to see. I really enjoyed the castle. The picturesk country side was incredible it just feels so nice and homey. I made to the town of Braemor and the road was blocked due to a fatal car accident. So i had to backtrack all the way east to Banchory and then south to Stirling were i met up with Angus. Six hours of driving today.
That is where things went a little sideways........i've had my once a year drinking night.......A little Glen Goyle and Guiness and a little more and then a little more and three hours of sleep.......ooooooo.......bit of a rough day.
Good news is Took is here. Kim says hi everyone!
