The theatre area used for entertainment, such as plays orations, etc quite grand with lots of seating for the masses of people who lived here and all painstakingly cleared of all the volcanic ash that covered this whole city with a blanket some 4-6 metres thick after the eruption of Mt Vesuvius in 79AD.
