Turangi is 'The Trout Fishing Capital of the World' according to the sign as you drive in. It sits on the Tongariro River, which is mecca if you like to catch trout. As you all know, I am a mountain man, and so was drawn to the wild untamed nature of things here. I did not fish as a guide is $75 an hour, 3 hour minimum, but did haul Michelle along to the 'National Trout Museum'. She could hardly contain herself. I talked with the proprietor about my previous triumphs. I also told him that my step-brother, Christian, is a very bad fisherman and that he has always stolen my fish in the past. He is going to write Christian a letter with 'National Trout Museum' headed paper.
Next stop Wellington.
