We agreed to meet Jochen at 10am to go for breakfast as the bus left at 10.45. Me & Beth had an Indian breakfast, Roti Banana (just like a banana pancake really) and coffee to wake us up...
After breakfast we went to wait for the bus and after 30mins we was informed it was going to be an hour late...
Eventually it arrived and we began the 3 hour journey to the Cameron Highlands.
The Highlands were named after William Cameron, a British colonial government surveyor who discovered it in 1885. The Cameron Highlands are famous for its tea plantations, and vegatble farms.
The views from the bus were breath taking, everything is so green in Malaysia.
When we arrived we were all surprised how built up it was, everything was driven towards tourism. We checked into a really good value hotel and then had a Chinease lunch, which again was so cheap and tasty!
We then booked a trip for the next day to go trekking to see the largest flower in the world!! Citing!!!!
On the evening we found a cool little bar which was playing music-dvd which was all Divas like Tina Turner, Cher, Elton John and Whitney Houston. It was quite funny and the German guy loved it. He was really getting into it... haha
The next day we left at 8.45am and the jeep drove for 45mins , then 20 mins off road!!!!...
The off road part was so much fun, the car was skidding all over place as the mud was so thick and sloppy. There were no barriers so if the driver mis-judged anything we would be falling of cliff!!
The driver was maybe a bit to cocky, he was steering with one hand, he also had his window down so branches kept hitting him which made him close his eyes and move out the way, which made the journey at times very nerve racking. Half way up, a jeep was stuck in the mud and the had to be pushed out by another jeep. The passengers in the stuck jeep had already got out and started walking back down the hill they didn't want to go any further...
When we got to the top we got ready to begin the trek in the jungle which has lots of wildlife (including over 70 species of rainforest birds, rare clouded leopard, black panthers and poisonous viper snakes)
However we didn't see anything but our guide was constantly looking out for snakes!!
We trekked for around an hour and we came to the worlds largest flower. Its called the Rafflesia and takes 8-10 months to blossom. Once blossomed they only last up to 10days. We were lucky and got to see one on its second day of blossom. It was huge and it didn't look real...
After that we trekked back for another hour to a waterfall which we were all glad of and jumped straight in. The water was so fresh (and cold!!!!) but the current was very strong and kept dragging everyone away so you had to hold on to rocks haha
We then went back to jeep for more off-roading, this time down the hill which was just as fun.
It was my favourite part of the whole trip...at the bottom of the hill was a Aborigine village and we got to have a go with a blow-pipe which they use for hunting.
We also had a walk round the village, and there was this little girl about 4 or 5 who kept running out and shouting at "hello" or "love you" and even "f**k you". She even kept putting her middle finger up at us....little maddam !
Next we went to the BOH Tea Plantation which is the biggest in the region and had a look around the museum and got some lunch. We also took to a view point and the views were stunning however as we got to the top it started raining and was became very foggy.
We then went to a Strawberry farm and was allowed to pick and eat them. We also had a fresh strawberry milkshake and it was delicious.
Finally we went to a Butterfly Farm which also has lots insects, snakes, scorpians and turtles. We got to hold all sorts of bugs, Beth even got to hold a gecko.
When we got back we headed straight for the shower and to bed for some rest.
We went out for a late dinner and decided on Indian (again). We all went for the banana leaf set. This meant they laid a banana leaf out in front of you (this is your plate) and they serve fish, mutton, chicken, rice, potato, beans, bean sprouts, popadoms and naan bread. It was such a good meal and again so cheap, we were all stuffed after that...
Today we are just relaxing updating the blog and heading of to the famous Kuala Lumpur tomorrow... That reminds me we had better go and book the bus ticket...
