In the middle of 'old' Lhasa which was built around 647 AD and King Songstan Gampo. So much of these temples were destroyed during the Chinese Invasion in 1959 to late 70's. They have tried to restore some painting etc but you can so tell the difference - the paint is not in original colours and the faces look ridiculous in some cases. Like mocking the original.
