In 2008(?) there was a very bad earthquake. You can see the side of the mountain that fell down in this picture. The worst part was that behind this mountain, the earthquake basically moved the mountian behind, eliminating the valley where many villages were. Apprently, the death toll numbers are very low. People in these remote villages still have 3, 4, 8 children but it si not recorded. (from my guide)
