BAÑOS
I decided to take a bit more time in Ecuador and go to Banos - a tourist town known for it´s volcanic baths and beautiful scenery and that it is - a quiet little town with essentially two main streets full of tourist booking offices, restaurants and toffee makers, a little church and waterfall nestled inbetween a valley of green mountains.
I packed in some adventure days - mountain biking through the lush green mountains, passing several waterfalls along the way, followed by ¨white water rafting¨ (which was cut short after we managed to flip the boat and watch the paddles, along with the people including me, float down the river). The next day I did some hiking and ¨canyoning´- repelling down 3 waterfalls the last of which was 75M - what a thrill.
There is so much more to experience in Ecuador but I will take my journey South to the lost Inca City of Machu Picchu. Thank you to everyone who have checked up on me and a warm thank you to the wonderful and talent Jennifer Finestone for sending me off with the book ´¨Eat, Pray, Love¨ by Elizabeth Gilbert - a befitting, hopeful and inspiring story to kick off this trip.
