hiya simoner just thought i'd let you know that the day surgery unit at Cairns Base Hospital (Dr Anthony) has sent you a letter detailing your left thumb op (for your medical records here - they're efficient aren't they!).
I know you said you've to go back for the wires to be removed in 3-4 weeks but does that mean you'll have to go elsewhere to have this done? I remember you saying about moving to Brisbane and then Syndey (I think) so guessing you've sorted it? Let me know if poss then I won't be worrying!
Hope you're doing okay and getting out and about okay and also that you're not in any pain with your injury.
Catch up with you soon, all my love Mumxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
A Happy Mother!
It was lovely to talk to you this morning Sy and although you're a million miles away it didn't seem so!
Take care with your thumb (not your bum, as I thought you'd first said - could have been nasty that!) and as you've said, you've learnt from that experience - as you do! It could have been a lot worse so I'm just glad you are still up right and able to get about! Go steady now!
I will let Joni know and then he can inform your dad. Did try ringing Joni after I'd spoken to you but he must still have been in bed - well it was only 9 something here! I think he worked really hard yesterday as he was helping at the farm (granddad has a list of jobs for him!) after working overtime in the morning at his work - I will be keeping an eye on him though to make sure he doesn't over do it - like me!!!!! Both him and Clara look really well and the boys: Ozzie and Bruno do too - Bruno's slimmed a bit and Ozzie's filled a bit!!!!
right, going to get something to eat now as i'm starving and these ruddy braces are making eating a ruddy night mare - I've been living on soup (homemade, of course!) Anyway, it's keeping me slim!
bye for now Simone and look forward to some more updates. Have a save trip to Brisbane/Sydney.
all my love, mumxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi Simon,
We been cruzing through the blogs on this site, your one comes up to be one of the most popular. We have an assignment based in New Zealand, which is in need of help from overseas. We need someone to help us, can you help?

Hi Simon,
Thanks for sending the info I needed to Rebecca I just need you to confirm one more thing for me. Can you e-mail Rebecca with your current address in the UK. With you selling your house Iam not sure which address is correct now as I need to advise P & as soon as possible.
Cheers
Your Lovely Mother!
How ya doing Simone, are you working hard or lazin about!!! Well, we're back to rain here today, although it did stop for a while but still bloody grey! Anyway I've managed to get stuff done inside and got some more transcripts to work on so that's kept me busy - I've had a break for a few weeks and now there's loads! I need the money anyway (as usual!).
Oh and guess what, mother has some lovely braces on her teeth - yes, I've been down to the dental hospital four times now and ended up with some groovy 'train tracks' as Joni kindly called them! At least I'll have nice straight teeth in the end - well, i bloody hope so having this contraption on for however months it is! You mustn't laugh when you see me - up to press nobody has (well probably behind my back!) And surprisingly they haven't affected my speech so i'm not lisping!!!!
Joni and Claire are sunning it in Spain and he rang the other evening to have a chat and tell me how he was sitting on the roof of the place they're staying in, wearing shorts (yes, Joni in shorts!) and drinking SC and coke - I think he said! Lucky b*****, i thought. Before he went away he brought the car (new re-spray!) round here and left some photos of you and him, which made me laugh so i'll show you those when you're back.
Take care and watch those kangaroos etctera etctera! Hope you're all having fun!
loads of love and the rest of it! mumxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Please can you e-mail me to confirm on the above address.

Your finally there!!!!
Told you it wouldn't be too warm, that why I said do Aus first!! Anyway, I'm sure you will have seen the massive casino in Cairns nr the lagoon - its really nice in there but not as big as the one in Sydney! The lagoon is georg - but not sure if it will be hot enough for sun bathing! Would defo do cape trib - we didn't have time but have heard its good as is the sky rail thing. Theres a nice little village called Port Douglas which is meant to be really nice too - so try and go up there if you can!
Where are you staying? Hotsel or hotel? You will easily get a job in a hostel as they were always advertising for people to drive the van or work in the bar! We didn't do that much in Cairns really - but defo got to do the reef although if you do the whitsundays sailing from Airlie beach you will go snorkling on the reef anyway.
On your way down - between Cairns and Townsville theres not much to see apart from something beach think its rainbow but anyway - dont go its crap!! stop at townsville (theres nothing much there) but then get the fast cat ferry over to an island called magnetic island, what i was telling you about - its really nice and you can just relax! That is where you can do the 3 hour jet-ski tour of the island and where there is the sea plane - called the red barron! James dad lives on magnetic island aka 'maggie' and they have just bought a bar on the horseshoe bay front called Sands bar - its really nice! There is a really nice mexcian resturant where russel crowe goes called 'noodies' ! If you stop at the YHA hostel in horse shoe bay, magnetic island that is where you can have a champagne bushtucker breakfast and hold koalas, baby crocs snakes etc its not that expensive too!
It will get cheaper as you move down the coast...
Must do's are Fraser Island, Whitsunday sailing and climbling the bridge in Sydney! From townsville (if you did stop there) the next big thing is Airlie beach - which is where the harbour is for the sailing - accomadation is expensive there!
How are you moving down? are you still hiring a car? The bus is really good (greyhound or premier) and its only like $250 and you can stop as many times as you like !
Anyway best be going, keep us updated on where you are and what your doing! You won't want to leave aus - everyone is so nice!!!
Bye xxx
Mother - Again!
Morning Simone, the sun is shining again here - the last few days have been lovely so hopefully the good weather will continue!
I've had a response back from Lindsey as follows:
'Didn't really spend much time up there in Cairns as that was where mum and dad joined me. Fruit picking does seem to be the main thing up there. Also maybe hotels. Port Douglas is not far away and you can go out to the great barrier reef on a boat diving and snorkelling. Also loads seem to go up to cape tribulation which is the rain forest. Don't know what else is there.
Sorry can't be much help. I'm better further down the coast. Tell Simon I wish I was there. Feel veri jealous at this moment in time!!!!
Anyway, hope that's some help and I'll catch up with you again shortly - spoke to Joni Monday night and he said he'd spoken to you.
Bye for now, Mumxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Mum
Hiya there Simone, good to hear you got to Oz okay and hope you find something suitable to do to earn some cash while you're there! I'll check with Lindsey on places/things to do as she'll will have a good idea - she may even have some suggestions for work. I did speak to her yesterday - we were on the phone for two hours but that isn't the record - we once babbled on for four hours!!!!! I felt dizzy when we'd finished!!! I may be going away with her a little later on, possibly in October and she mentioned some 'chill out' holiday to India!!!! Her partner has just got back from a trip to Mont Blanc, which he didn't get to climb due to adverse weather.
Saw the family yesterday and Joni came with the mad duo: manic Ozzie & tubby Bruno!!! There were five dogs at the farm at one point so there were hounds in all directions! Hay making has started (bloody lovely!) and Joni has been helping along with the usual clang: Beryl and Jane etctera etctera!!!! Your Granddad keeps whittering about 'getting it baled' and Grandma is getting herself in a state about it!!!! The first field has been collected and some of the second; I'm keeping a low profile as I can't be doing with the stress!!!!
The weather has been absolutely gorgeous today, really warm - just hope it continues after all the rain we've had.
Had the car serviced the other day, which has now bankcrupt me so that's it for a while until I can get back on track - probably never , given my current record! We get a cost of living rise this month but a fact lot of good that will be!!!
Hope you can get some photos uploaded at some point; it will be good to see the sights etctera - whats it with the baboons!!!!
Okay best stop rambling on and close here. Enjoy yourself in the land of Oz and don't be having too many Fosters!!!!!!!
Love you always and miss you so much, mumxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
