I made it back to Palenque...Almost no pesos though... Had to go in the cheapest hostel in town and ate two mangos for dinner...I was the only one staying in the hostel which I actually liked (at first). Went to be early but woke up due to the rain. I stayed in a dormitory on the top floor and the roof was this metal-kind-of-thingy and when it rained I couldn't hear myself think any more! Just when you think it can't possible rain any more, it does...Had a terrible night cause I was afraid that I wouldn't hear the alarmclock due to the noise...
Got up around 5:30 and waited for the bus to pick me up. Still not adjusted to the Mexican time, I waited for 1 hour and had 1 million thoughts around how my transport would never show up....but they did! I did a kind of jeep-boat-jeep tour, crossing the border in to Guatemala. The journey took around 8 hours but 4 of them were just waiting around or the driver stopping and chatting to people...it's amazing how many times they can stop a car in 100 meters! We were a group of 8 people on the the bus and we arranged transport on to El Remate and to Tikal for the day after together... Decided to stay at Sak Luk Hostel. A hippi-backpacker-place.. Went to get some food, which took hours!!! The service was almost non-existent. They had guinneapig on the menu though!
On Friday we went to Tikal! Went on an organised tour for 4 hours which was great! I really enjoyed that and I know for sure that I would never have lasted through the whole day on my own, cause the rain was pouring down! In the evening I had the best veggie-burger of my life and the best dinner in a long time!
At the moment I'm in Belize...4 countries in less than two weks!
