As our flight to Lima left in the afternoon we stayed the night in an airport hotel. It saved us travelling into the city and back again. Santiago airport is much larger than Mendoza with many runways. At this time of year everywhere had a slight haze, almost like a smog covering the city and surrounding mountains. Unfortunately we were sat on the wrong side of the plane looking out to sea, on the other side they had spectacular views of snow covered mountains! I was a bit miffed that I could only get glimpses across the aisle. The trip took about four hours and there was a LOT of turbulance, the plane shook about so much that it was difficult to read and impossible to write or sketch as Chris found. When we started to descend the flight became very smooth and we realised how bumpy it had been during the flight.
So we are now in our small hotel, after visiting a small local cafe for dinner, looking forward to seeing what Lima has to show us.
