This is the third time now I have tried to right the same blog entry. So I am doing it a different way this time and SAVING the text. Much to write about.
Paris; Paris has SO much to do in it. It is crazy. I went to the Louvre, and saw probably less then a quarter of it. Went to Sacre Couer which is a BEAUTIFUL area in Montmartre. Aka the artsy area. It's like a small town in Paris. It's beautiful. I spent lots of time there. I went to Versailles which was incredible. Went to Moulin Rouge which was hilarious. Notre Dame was much smaller then I expected. OH and Point Neuf! It is a bridge where "lovers" put a lock on the bridge then throw the key in the canal. Yeah so cute I puked. (But really it's super cute). And I met really super people in Paris. I didn't have money here since I just came from Amsterdam and if it hadn't been for cool people and even the staff in Paris it would have sucked. Everyone was so friendly. Oh and I met up with the three Americans that seem to be following me EVERYWHERE. Its so funny.
So food in Paris was super, expensive, but so good. Duck is so good. And people honestly run around with baguettes under their arms. It's really quite funny.
Paris is also a party city. I don't really know what I was running on while I was there. I would honestly sleep at like five or six every day and wake up at like nine. I was just so stoked about Paris. So because Paris was so exhausting heading to the French Riveria on a relaxing beach for three days sounded like a SUPERB idea... And then we got there.
Nice: I wish I could explain Nice to people who weren't there but I don't really think I can. The city of Nice is incredibly beautiful. Especially near the beach. It was a perfect mix of French and Italian architecture. Everything was so tropical. It was November and every day I wore a dress and bathing suit and flip flops and sunnies. GREAT!!
There must be something innate in humans that makes us love the ocean. It is so calming and beautiful and cleansing. I could easily live in Nice. Now the thing that made Nice the best was the AWESOME people there. Our Nice group was seriously so great and while writing this I miss them. The hostel itself was fine, but the people that worked there were all backpackers that just fell in love with Nice. So they didn't really care much if you were missing a quilt but they were excited to hang out and have a beer. It was a huge family atmosphere. For some people I can understand why they would complain about it, but it was so great for the family.
So clearly having a nice relaxing three days turned into a crazy five days, including Halloween, of insanity. Boat adventures, beach fun, happy hour, so many kebabs (that have French fries IN them!) in the middle of the night. Dear Nice family, you rock. Don't ever change.
Venice: So this makes sense why I got sick in Venice. Which was a beautiful but very small city- which is for sure sinking. The busses and taxis are boats. It's so funny. The city is a labyrinth. Guides always say that the locals get lost and I thought this was a joke- definitely not. Also our hostel was incredibly small. Very strange. So we walked around the city a good four times and felt we saw it enough. Beautiful masks all over and all I wanted to do was take them all home. So we moved on to Florence.
Florence: What a beautiful city! So many people say that Italy is okay and sort of ugly and I really don't know why. I think Florence is one of my favorite big cities. Most cities end up looking very similar with all the culture extracted out of it and replaced with industrialism, but this hasn't happened to Firenze at all! It's very pretty!!!
The hostel again is really weird, but good thing I am here with a friend! All we want is a normal big hostel with a bar in the bottom and a reception desk and computers. Luckily we found that in the next place we are going to!
I saw Michelangelo's David which was so beautiful and ENORMOUS. But really absolutely perfect. Also a church simply called Il Duomo is the most beautiful cathedral I have seen yet. We are heading to Rome tomorrow which is Going to be great.
Pisa: also went to Pisa today to see some tower. This was by far the funniest place I've been and funniest pictures I have of people trying to hold up the tower or knock it over. It makes me laugh remembering about it!
Tomorrow is Rome which means now is sleep! Hopefully this is some more details and specifics that some people were asking for. Miss you Edmonton family, see you soon!
