WOW ! i think of you often and all of the things you are seeing , really at this point least of all actual soccer , or football or futbul or whatever they call it there. sounds beauti*FULL!!! i am so glad you are taking pitures and can get them to us so soon - technology ( what will they think of next , huh? )
hey - in one of those german classes did they teach you how to say - do you need a good tooth brushin'? maybe max could tell you how to say that ?? sounds like that may have been what they needed and not be so irritated with a little ole fair kid from seattle!
it all sounds great and i am looking foward to hearing more.
Andi
This is soooo much fun, the second best thing to being there in person. And... I love reading what others are writing.
We had the German family read your adventures and see your photos, i believe Thorsten will post mail for you also. They (Max's mom and siter are on the plane home as I type) They were a bit fretful about their return as they have to be prepared to go on vacation within two days of arrival in Germany.( what a terrible thing to have to face !!! LOL ) We all thought that to be quite the problem. hum...... And...wasn't the 18 days here quite the vacation? OH to be German and have all that vacation time.
It's heating up here in the heartland... to reach 100 this week, I hear that Germany is also warming, but hopefully for you ...not nearly this hot. I can't even begin to imagine how exhausted you must be after all that biking, and I remember the winding hills. if not for the beauty of the land it would be even harder.
May the road rise up to meet you, and the wind be at your back. Love, Andi/Max

Hey Nathan,
I'm just getting caught up with your travels -- sounds like a great time so far. your language issues bring to mind Chevy Chase as Clark W. Grizwold in European Vacation: "Guten Tag, I'm looking for sechs." Don't make that mistake.
Cassandra

It's nice to hear my country-folk are being well-behaved. Though stacking them up next to the Brits might be misleading. I jest, of course. (or do I?)
I'm enjoying the blog, and keep up with the pics! (And that locator map is just plain cool!)
The Rios Family

gus is glad you aren't by any erupting volcanos right now - he thinks that is one reason you went to watch soccer was to get away from mt st helens. i tried splanin' but he is stuck on it.

WOW.... looks just the way I remember it. Max's favorite picture is the one with the breakfast beer (big surprise). He used to smoke those cigs..said it was his favorite brand. As for me...the pastries/bakerys..........ummmmmm. The churches are outstanding in detail and size, all the carvings and steeples, nothing like it here. We loved the international ratings...you and your sister are soooo creative.
If you make it to France...try the flammkuchen. Wishing you much Joy in your journey !! Andi/Max
