So, arrived in Hervey bay and had to have our briefing for the self drive tour of Fraser Island. We were in bright pink 4x4's and first of all headed to Woolworths first and foremost to stock up on food!! Essential!!! Then got the boat over to the island and after digging the vans out of the sand we all headed over to Lake Wabby. This was great, had to walk over massive sand dune to get to it, which took a while but was worth it! Headed back to cars for lunch and Jonnas realised he had left his flip flops and had to run back!!! Then headed up the beach and set up camp for the evening! Cooked veggie fajitas and BBQ on the beach and then had some drinks. Was so amazing, stars were fantastic out there!
Next day got up and headed to Eli creek, which was freezing cold! We walked up and chilled (literally!) in the creek and then just sat back while the water pushed us back down again! After this we headed up to Indian Heads look out point with fantastic views and saw a small shark. We then headed to the shipwreck - with me behind the wheel this time! Drving along the beach was awesome!! Going through wash outs and beating the boys in the other truck!! Onwards to the campsite, where we pitched our tents for the second night! Was so good cos we actually got to have a shower and it was needed!!! We cooked up some pasta and chicken, which was delicious. Next morning got up early and headed to Lake Mackenzie, which was possibly one of the most beautiful things I have seen. See the pic above!! The sand is so white and the water so blue - really stunning!
I then got to drive again and this time not on the hard sand on the beach but proper 4 wheel driving on the soft sand! Was so much fun!! Got a little stuck but didnt need to be dug out, slammed it in reverse and then put my foot down!! Had soph in the front coaching me all the way too!! That night got back to Hervey bay and just chilled out at Roving. Had a few drinks and some food and had to check out the next morning ready for overnight bus to airlee beach for Whitsundays!!!
