We leave Moron quite early - well if you call 8:45 early. Take the 2.5 to Sancti Spiritus. We get a bit lost going into town and then get directed straight to the casa by a guy on a bicycle. Very good guide as he points out where to look out for potholes, where to turn and waits when we fall behind. Love the casa sign - "Rooms for Rents" We make use of the washing lines to wash and hang some clothes to dry.
We take a stroll through town. A lovely piece of Turron (peanut butter/halva/fudge) from a food stall as we stroll down Indepencia - the pedestrianised street. I buy some paper mache 1950's cars for my nephews. Since I lost my favourite travel companion - my foldout bag - somewhere early on in the trip, I start worrying about luggage space a bit. Sure I'll find something in Havana to put extras in and weigh in as my second bag so don't worry about it too much for now.
We buy some beer and spend a lazy afternoon sitting on the roof terrace reading and taking a nap.
We have dinner at the casa and I 'smul' on the first beef of the trip.
We go for a drink at the Hotel Plaza and play a couple of card games. I have my first gin and tonic of the trip! Two boys (12 and 10) start standing around our table giggling. Initially we're a bit sceptic and watch our bags closely. Turns out they want to join us for card games. We play a couple of games and then off to bed.
