Hi Guys,
It's been a while since I last blogged (if that's the right word) so it'll be a bit more brief than the others have been as i've gotta cram about 2 weeks into this one and I get bored of typing really quickly, so here goes.
On Sunday 11th we went for our farewell Oz intro dinner up the Sydney tower before we all left our seperate ways. Me and Nat tried our first bit of Kangaroo meat and it was really good. The views up the tower were amazing but as it was getting dark and wasn't too long until you could only see lights of the city, but that was worth seeing. There was also a thunder storm in the distance and the lightning was cool to see.
On Monday 12th we moved hostels from Coogee beach to Glebe which was in the centre of Sydney during the day we just did touristy things and walked round Sydney for ages but it was really good.
On Tuesday 13th we went up one of the Pylons of Sydney Harbour Bridge, we didn't do the bridge walk as it was a lot of money, and to be fair I was still knackered from walking around all day the day before! We also went to the Aquarium and my favourate was the Massive Turtle!!! Cowerbunga Dudes!!
On Wed 14th we went to the Opera House to See the 'Grand Cirque" which was basically the Circus, not quite the opera but much more our cup of tea. And was brilliant.
On Thurs 15th we went to Tarronga Zoo and saw an elephant playing football. The views of Sydney from the Zoo was amazing as the zoo is set on a hill off the Harbour. Towards the end of the day a storm came in and it rained like i've never seen it before, the rain drops were massive!
On Fri 16th we went and put a deposit down on our campervan and then chilled out in the park before heading to the oldest pub in Sydney, which wasn't really that old, I think the Squirrels is older!
On Sat 17th we went up Sydney tower agin but this time to walk round the top OUTSIDE! It was brilliant and the views were so good. There is no way that the veiws from the bridge would be as good as that as the tower is more that twice the height and you have full 360 views.
On Sunday 18th we just chilled out, had a few drinks near the opera house, sunbathed in the park until we got fed up of getting biten by ants in the park and then went to Darling Harbour for some food, where I have Kangaroo again and it was awesome!
On Monday 19th we went to Manly and had a beach day. The waves there were so good I think it would be a much better place to surf than on Bondi for all the hype it gets. then I started to get a bit windy and started to get attacked by the sand so decided to spend the rest of the afternoon/evening drinking in Manly Bay Hotel sitting in the sun.
On Tues 20th we went back to Coogee to pick up our bookings for trips we booked down the east coast and then spent the rest of the day by the beach Sunbathing.
On Wed 21st we went to Cockatoo Island which used to be an old Navy Ship yard and a Prison, very strange place. And the seagulls there are so aggressive its unbelieveable. We saw a sign saying don't feed the birds they are aggressive and we laughed, until I nearly had my eye poked out just trying to walk down the path.
On Thurs 22nd was the day we got the Campervan. IT IS AWESOME! I love it. After we picked it up in the late afternoon we drove down the coast to Wollongong and parked up by the beach in the dark.
Fri 23rd When we woke we didn't realise how beautiful it was when we parked up last night but it was the perfect place to wake up to. IwWe went for a walk down the beach. Then I went for a swim, before we shwered in the open air beach showers and drove on to Kangaroo Valley. Kangaroo Valley was an amazing little town with an amazing river running by it with a wooden bridge they let massive lorries go over and you could see it bend!!
On Sat 24th we drove on to Canberra which is a very weird capital city as it is so quiet. We found a camp site for the night and had a BBQ.
On Sun 25th we went and had a tourist day round Canberra, we went to the War Momorial which was good, until we both got a bit bored. So we went up to Ainsle Mountain look out to see the veiws of the city. The view was awesome, dispite it being quiet it really ia a beautiful city when you look at it from this height! There wasn'y much else to do so we went to the Cinema and then went back to the camp site to have a BBQ in the dark.
Monday 26th January. Australia Day! What a great idea, a day to celebrate the country you live in, why can't we do that at home, oh yeah we have St Georges day, but we just don't do anything!!!
In the morning we went to Commonwealth park and have a free BBQ Breakfast. Then we went to watch the offical Australia day stuff inc. Australian of the year! and the awards of Australian Citizenship, and saw Leo Sayer getting his!!! Then we went and had lunch and got some beers for the afternoon which we spent in the park listening to bands, watching wakeboarding and stuff. Then we saw Leo Sayer Sing the only two songs I know before the best fire works display I have ever seen!!!! A good day, but i'm still English!
