We reached Quebec by about 4pm so for the firt night the sun was just setting but the city looked very pretty and after a quick walk around found out that the Snowboarding equivalent of the world cup was a free event in the centre of town which was an awesome start!
The city reminded us of York - quite small and quaint and very european! we had been told that unless you spoke French the people were a little rude but we had no problems everyone we met was extremely friendly and helpful!
The second day we had a little walk around the city (sunny weather with beautiful snow everywhere) by afternoon we took the ferry across the river - it was organised by the hostel and turned out to be a very boring tour of a savings bank set up for the poor in 1900's. Our lovely guide took us on an ice slide slide on the way back to make up for it which was lots of fun!
The next day we decided to leave but a trip to the ice hotel onroute was in order, not quite sure what to expect when we arrived in a very small town we were greatly suprised. The hotel was amazing (although we wouldn't have wanted to spend the night in an ice bed athough there are animal skins and sleeping bags provided to keep the cold out). You need to look at the photos to apprechiate its full beauty - plus a bit of dancing in the ice bar!
