Howdy y'all im in sunny (well actually not that sunny almost a bit cold compared to what I've been used to) San Francisco and having a good time. From San Diego I caught a train the short way to Fullerton in LA, which is a distric of LA in the like the South West side of LA and I stopped there for a couple of days to break up the journey to San Fran. I'll be heading back to downtown LA after Vegas so thought I'd stay in a different area. I made it to the hostel despite still not really knowing which was on a block is north and which was is south (should really get a compass). The hostel was relatively small and quiet but the guy at the desk was really friendly and I explained to him that I wanted to do two things get a haircut because I was looking like a hobo and buy a little laptop, he said I was in luck with both as there was a barbers near by and a cheap computer store as well, he was just about to finish his shift so he offered to run me to the computer store which was really nice of him and in return I would use his reward card with the purchase so he'd get the points - seemed a fair trade. I picked up a little notebook for about 300 dollars which was quite cheap and got a bite to eat from the grocery store and jumped in a taxi to get back to the hostel. Everything had wrked perfectly got a laptop and set it up so I could catch up on e-mails and stuff and had a nice bite to eat and then realised that I'd left my cell phone in the taxi……. s***ty b******s. This was pretty annoying as I lost the phone numbers on there but in all fairness it could have been worse (like my passport or something like that) and I've done pretty well to get this far without losing anything. I spent most of the night playing around with the computer and sorting stuff out for the next couple of weeks before I leave the US. After speaking to the guys at the hostel it seemed that there was not much to do in Fullerton (not including the organised tours to Hollywood and stuff but it would be easier to do that when I'm closer to Hollywood later n) and really all there was in the area was Disneyland but that was really expensive and didn't really fancy going on my own, I thought i was probably too old anyways.
The next day (my only full day in Fullerton) I got my haircut and early in the morning and headed back to the hostel to see what everyone was doing. It was pretty quiet around the hostel and there was only really this dude from South Korea, I asked what he was doing and he said that he had no plans and was probably going to stay at the hostel all day…. Great fun! The hostel said that the beach was another idea but that was two hours away which would be a nightmare. This Russian girl came out and said that she was off to Disneyl;and so I thought I might as well tag along with her as it would give me something to do for the day even if it was a bit expensive. The guy from the hostel was heading that way so he gave us both a lift which was a bonus and we got down there paid the $97 dollars to get in and was pretty sceptical. That changed almost as soon as I got in there (had to put on my '1st visit' badge) as it was such a fun place to be around there was so much going on and everyone is really happy and really brings you back to being a kid. Luckily enough Anastasia (the Russian girl) had been there the day before and knew where to go and how to work the fast passes that you can get. She was a very nice girl from Moscow who was working/travelling in the states in between her economics degree. We packed in so much stuff in the time we were there, we did (try and remember everything!):
Tarzans Treehouse adventure ( abit for kids but good fun)
The Indiana Jones Adventure ride (a different style rollercoaster so its like your in a truck bouncing around, visually spectacular but not much f a rollercoaster)
The haunted mansion (good old fun, not very scary but again visually impressive with holograms and special fx)
Davy Croketts Explorer Canoes (a nice gentle row round the river which was good fun)
The Many Adventures of Winny the Pooh (definitely for kids but couldn't resist)
Big thunder mountain railroad (we rode it about 10 at night which was really cool, and good rollercoaster)
Buzz lightyear astroblasters (again definitely for kids but good fun)
Finding Nemo Submarine voyage (good fun)
High School Musical Street production (really good fun to watch and well put together, I did fell sorry for the cause it was baking and they area having to dance around and stuff)
The Street party ( a lot of fun with music and disney characters and all kinds on the main street)
The Fireworks over the paalce (absolutely awesome as its all set to music and stories within Disney and such a good atmosphere - a bit like the 4th july fireworks in NYC that kind f atmosphere)
Fantasia over the river (done as the last thing of the night and really impressive with fireworks lightshows music all so well put together)
The Hollywood Hotel rollercoaster( a rollercoaster based on a falling life - pretty much scared the s*** out of me but was a good ride)
The Promenade Rollercoaster (the first big rollercoaster we went on all day and was a lot of fun)
Saw Alladin Musical Production (very impressive and well put together)
The Disney Light show (done when it gets dark and was really good with people cheering and chanting again all to music and all choreographed)
And I think that was it so I it was definitely worth the money, we got down there at 12 and didn't leave till 11 at night so we got as much out of it as we could. It really brought the big kid out in me and was an unbelievably fun day there really is something magic about Disneyland and would recommend it to anyone! Probably one of the best days I've had since being away…..
We were pretty shattered when we got back and we both ahd to be up really early (about 5ish) as I was catching the early train to San Fran and Anastasia was off to Vegas so we may be able to meet up again out there which will be good. I'm off to Vegas on Friday so will write up the San Fran blog while I'm on the airport/on the plane and get it loaded up along with all the photo's. take care everyone xx
