Gusty winds may exist
Eight hours into the trip I decide to pull out my laptop and do an up date, because I can't sleep so I figure I will share some of the entertaining things I have learned about international travel. I was told to make a list of thirty things at the beginning of this trip and then revisit it at months end and see how many of them still hold true. However, I am to sober to even begin to do that right now, so I will just give you some observations.
Observation 1:Once you hit Miami consider yourself in another country. Things do not operate in the Miami airport the way they do in Tampa or Orlando; IE:I saw a woman trying to get her small grandchild to crawl onto an escalator because she had her hands full and didn't want to use the stairs. After many failed attempts buy a TSA agent, Who spoke Spanish I should point out and tried to explain to this woman that the child could not crawl up the escalator, the father of the child came and took him and walked up the stairs carrying him. The first thing that came to mine is that scene from Mallrats, if you have never seen the movie then just stop reading this right now.
Observation 2: For some assenting reason Iberia feels the need to play music all through the night and there is a curious mist randomly blowing from the air vents on the plane. This thing reminds me of Snakes on a Plane, but it is only one story and there is no one yelling in my area. Although there is a man that could be the S.L.J. of this flight and he is reading a book on Muddy Waters which adds another degree of closeness to S.L.J. and snakes; Black Snake Moan. Make a list people the movie references are going to keep coming.
Observation 3:When the drink cart comes by and there is a choice between alcohol and non-alcohol, choose the alcohol. It is free international and you paid enough to be on this plane be like I am right now, two bottles of red and a coke. They didn't even take tips so between this and the pills I have in my pocket; I should be good once I finish this entry.
There is a full moon and the sun is setting. This is a beautiful picture which I wish I had my camera to take, however my bag is in the overhead and my Point and Shoot is under my feet and it would require too much effort to move my vino to get a camera to take a picture for you people who are only going to skim this and notice errors, for those of you that are reading for content I am sorry how ever I will describe it for you. There is something amazingly beautiful to be sitting in the plane, your Ipod randomly puts on Mazzy Star and you look out the window to see that the sun is going down but the moon a=has already beat it up before it was finished. We are so high up in the clouds that it almost seems like the sky is reflecting on itself. The clouds out and above me resemble the clouds out and below me to a "T". I look out to the left of the plane I can see the sun setting, but yet I look out my window and I can no longer see the orange from the setting sun but just some of the light and the full moon. One more thing I seem to have just noticed. I am sitting on the wing of the plane, not a big deal other than the fact I can see the engine of the plane shaking and wobbling like it is about to fall off. Bottle one just got finished a lot faster than planed.
Observation 4: There is no being picky when it comes to the food. "Chicken or Beef?" "Pollo or Carne" At no point are you told what kind of chicken or beef, how it is prepared or anything of importance. This is just a food substance to hold you over and soak up the free booze so you don't become an a****** on the plane. I look at the woman and say "Mac & cheese and tatter tots." She doesn't understand me so I hold my head down and say "Pollo" I remove the metal top from my main course and surprised to find something that looks like cat food. I want to say it was chicken Marcella, but I am not sure. All I know is it had a white sauce to it and I am pretty sure it came out of a can labeled Nine Lives. Along with it though came some baked potatoes, carrots, and green beans. I know what you all are thinking, but you know what, I ate the s***. Yes I called it s*** and I ate it all. Cat food and all. I had to eat something if I plan on taking this pill. For dessert there was some cake with a hard sweet top and I ate that as well. There was a shrimp salad involved in the meal but I didn't not eat that, because I have no urge to die.
It is now about 11 P.M. Tampa time I just woke up and started reading a book, only to realize it is a book of a lot of interviews I have read before, so that is kind of a bummer. I am not sure if we are over land or water but I do know I wish they would turn the cabin lights out because I am kind of over looking at every thing that is in this plane right now. Oh and there is no in-flight movie. Not that it would have mattered because it would have been in Spanish. Still it would have been nice to have something to look at other than a computer screen.
