So first post on our sixth day away.
I don't want to spend all my time at a computer whilst I am away so below are a few notes I have taken!

As the wirless connection in our place is shoddy I am just posting every thing that I had written
Packing was a struggle, big hangover, very tired and not able to fit it all In my bag, had to leave my hair straighteners and Jimmy choo's at home
Flight to Miami was uneventful. I lucked out on the flight to San Jose. We were unable to get a seat together as the flight was fully booked. I got a seat between a fat women that made funny noises and a real bona fide cowboy. Best flight ever
Mel loving filling out all the customs and immigrations forms (she has the best handwriting)
Miami airport a little dull but good for mullet spotting
Finally arrived in San Jose. Hostel had a Halloween party in full swing when we arrived. People dressed up like the Scream dude, as zombies and puzzlingly as Robin, from Batman and Robin.
The hotel seems clean and alright, the sheets could do with fitting the bed better, every time I turn round the sheet comes with me. I would have been able to go to the Halloween party last night as a mummy if only I had a few hours sleep before.
surfboard seems to still be in one piece with no damage, well done British Airways you could do it
going to check out San Jose today and then decide which side of the country to go to, probably the Caribbean side for rice and peas and a bit of reggae, the surf should be good over the too. This will be the first time in over a year that I haven't had to wear a full suit of rubber (Kinky!) in the water. Board shorts and a t shirt hide the podgy belly better too.
So we decided to go to Tamarina, which is on the Pacific coast. The surf is better over here for beginners so Mel can surf too and not have to watch me from the beach!
5 hour bus journey later and we arrived. We have a room that you could swing a monkey in. Which is handy as we have monkeys on the roof.
The shower is a South American "Suicide" shower. It is basically a power socket attached to the shower head. To make the water hotter you turn the tap on more. And you have to stand on a rubber mat. The first shower I had the water was cold, so I am hoping that it is broken and I will be able to live to tell the tale
Whilst waiting for the rain to stop we were watching a spot of TV, when there was this almighty roar. Mel got scared, she thought it was a grisly bear. It was the monkeys. Those little feckers better not keep me awake tonight!
We will probably stay here for a week or so. Lots of surfing and eating and perhaps the reggae night on Tuesday.
