15th January - Brown House/Temple
we had some monks visit us today in preparation for our temple stay. we did some chanting and opffered them food. at 12 we went to Wat Sangathon, to stay in a temple. we did sitting and standing meditation which was a little difficulte at 1st and evening chanting with the monks. we learnt alot about buddhism, which was really intresting. bed for the night is a marble floor rather hard in a square room with about 15 of the other girls. no supper tonight as monks only eat between 6am and 11 am so im fasting too.

19th January - Kanchanaburi (best day)
early start this morning minibus picked us up at 7am for a day full of fun. the 1st stop was the war cemetary where the british prisoners of war who died in the bombing of the bridge over the river kwai (Don Ruk). it was quite upseting to see but the grounds were well kept and it was a great tribute to the men. we then went to the musiam which told the story of the bridge ove the river kwai. again very interesting with lots to see and read the history was amazing to learn about.. walking across the bridge was also fun as it had alot of gaps in it and narrow paths so meeting people was a little tricky. we then moved on to bambook rafting. this was so nice the river was flowing gentely and it was so pretty. very relaxing. we then crossed a old rickety hanging foot bridge back.next was elephant riding. tara and i rode the elephant around the mountains and i washed he off with the hose when we returned. which i think she appriciated. an extra bonus of the day was th esaiyokmoi waterfall. it wasnt big but an amazing site and it felt so refreshing in the heat to stand under it and swim in the pool beneath. there was also a giant turtle swimming there too and lots of school children. finally the day ended at the tigre temple. a place where the tigers and monks live side by side. we got to met the tigers and sit with them cuddling them it was an amazing experiance and the best day so far.
