This strip of coast on the great ocean road is also known as shipwreck coast as hundreds of ships have run a foul of the rugged coastal rocks. This particular area was the sight of a ghastly wreck of the Loch Ard in which all but 2 people died from around 50 odd. There were only about four bodies ever recovered.
