So we finally left Carins on Fridat 1st October!!!!!!! had an ealry start getting up at 6, strolling down the road with the most moodiest faces in the heat with our backpacks! When we got on the bus the driver called Lute (I think) explained what was gunna be happening all down the east coaste and said he would sort out all accomodation and tell us good trip which was nice!!! After about ten mins off listening to him tell us hos sugar is made I nodded off and woke up at a rainforest where we went to do a hike! and it was absolutly pouring it down, so we ran to the nearest shelter and i sat down with my towel wrapped round me like a sulky kid, after just waking up doing a trek in the heavy rain with just flip flops and a dress on was not what i wanted! Anyway a couple of us girls just stayed under the shelter and waited for them to get back!
our next stop on the way to Tounsville was a crocodile farm which was awesome! Was good cos we didnt know that excursions were included on the way to each stop down the east coast so was a nice suprise! when we arrived at the farm we were greeted by a proper austalian, leather cowboy hat, karkey shorts and short, (just like steve Irwin) he then went a got a baby croc and let in on the loose on the bus! was bit uneasy at first but he said his mouth was tapped shut so i went and had a stoke! Thourght that a croc would have really rough skin and horrible, but it was actually really soft and smooth! Had a picture moment with the croc, but the man was saying make sure you hold him tight cos he can flip is tail really hard and it will go straight across your face! I was then like Ok you can have the croc back!!!!
As we got bit further in our Oz experience man was holding a snake and come up to put it round my kneck, I said no at first but after a bit of persuauding i let him! It was sosssssooooooooooo scary. Just felt horrible! i had beads on and it wrapped its tail in knot round them and its body started to get tighter, so i started to panic and was telling him to get the snake off me nowww!!!!!!!! wasnt nice at all!!!!!
As we walked in bit more sure loads of crocs, think there was bout 150 on this farm. Saw a little baby kangeroo and emus, which s*** the life out of me cos it gave me this look like it was just gunna come and run at me, so i tried not too look at it in the eye! but then there was this little kids going right up to and wernt scared at, felt like bit of baby!!! He then took us to see the dingoes! which looked just like a dog, he got out one called kimberly and she was the most dosile animal I have ever come across. He picked her up and see just flopped in his arms like a baby! he offered me to hold her but she was really molting and i was wearing black so i thourght no! Didnt want to be playing find the cat hairs!
it was then time to feed the crocs and he took us to the first one! it was under the water so he stuck his stick in to ennoy it and was holding up a chicken head...it then started to walk out slowing and I never thourght i would see a croc soooo big! It was absolutly massive! Cant remeber how big he said exactly but ill put the pics on facebook for you too see! we fed a few more cros and I swear to god the croc man had a death wish, he would get so close to them, tease and ennoy them and he wasnt scared one bit! I asked him afterwards if hes ever had a close encounter and he said yeh bout a dozen times...but he loves the frill!!! rather him then me!
We then went on to see the kangeroooooos and there was one with a little joey in her pouch which was so cute, its little head popping out! I got some food and fed them which felt soo wierd! there was this little kid there that kept putting his hand in the pouch and was trying to pull the joey out, i was getting really aggravated by him so i told him off lol! but he kept doing and even tried sticking his head in there and his mum was just watching him! the croc man saw him do this and gave a good telling off!
We arrived in tounsville at 5 and had to get a ferry over to magnetic island which took about 20 mins and the water was so choppy felt like i was on a rollercoaster! We checked into our hostel called base which is the only one on the island really and with not much else to do everyone just hangs around here and the beach is literally bout ten seconds away, so its nice!! We got to out dorm and in our room was a girl called becky that we met in the rainforest! was good seeing her but wierd out of all the people we could be with we ended up with her again! but i think its prob going to be like that most the way down the east coast as everys going to be stopping at the same places but dates may be different! so should be good to bump into people again!!!
Were hear for tonight and then going to Airlie beach sunday! and hopefully booking on for the whitsundays islands sailing!
