Tuesday 14th November arrived in Hoi An. Hoi An has been the most beautiful town we have seen so far. The old town is made up of a mixture of old Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese and French influenced buildings. Hoi An has been a major trading port between Asia and the Western world, for the past 400 years and this is visable everwhere you look. The people here are alot more friendly and honest; it is all in all a welcome difference to Hanoi.
Hoi An is a nice little town to sit back and watch the pointy little hats go bye.
we spent most of our time here just relaxing in the bars and cafe's that surround the very small picturesque harbour. We did manage a visit to the local beach, which we thought would not be up to much, but were pleasantly surprised. The whitty local beach sellers were trying to sell us things- bracelets, pineapple ect, Lou Lou who was the first (face covered up as though she was just about to do an armed robbery),she enfacised that if we did want anything she was the first. Then came Na Na (we think she got her name from the England song), she proceeded to tell us "Na Na number 1, Lu Lu Number 2." This jockying of positions wen't on for the rest of the day.
We are supposed to be flying out of Singapore on the 6th of December to Bali but still have another 4 1/2 countries to get through, so we have decided to extend our South East Asia adventure until well into the new year. Oz and James's reunion with Mick Dundee will just have to wait...
