Danielles Little Vacation
Hi,
Ok i now have to think where i left off with my last journal entry - i'm so confused to what day it is, i don't know whether i'm on my head or backside!!
On monday we went to Sentosa island (i think), you can either get on the bus and go over via the bridge or go by the cable cars. Of course we decided on the cable cars although i did think i was going to die coming back as it was rather windy and the car was in full rock! Sentosa island is catered for the tourists theres amusement parks, lots to do, places to eat and some very fake but nice beaches! Evey and i just wanted to hit the beach so we just spent a few hours layed out there - it was really nice, especially as i could have a swim! I think i was spoilt in South Africa having a pool as it meant i could swim whenever i wanted!
Tuesday we were supposed to get up and go see some temples but that never happened as it was so hot and humid outside we decided to stay in the comfort of our nice air conditioned hostel!
After being lazy bums on tuesday we had an unbelievable busy day, first off we had to cover all the temples we should have visited on tuesday! I was kind of disappointed with the temples, i don't know what i was expecting for city temples but i guess what i got wasn't it! There was just a road full of temples and some weren't even that nice to look at! I had been really excited to go to the budhist temple of a 1000 lights, where if you make a donation a thousand lights alight! When i got there it was this huge budha with light bulbs round his head and it looked more fitting to Blackpool!! I was also sad there were no budhist monks with bald heads and orange togas! I feel i was expecting a place like out of golden child when they go to tibet and theres all those monks about (lisa you know what i'm talking about right!) Anyway to conclude i didn't find enlightenment!!
We then hit china town and orchid road before heading back to the hostel to get ready for a night out at Raffles hotel!
Raffles for anyone who doesn't know was a british guy who did lots in singapore so they named a really posh hotel and complex after him! Raffles is also famous for creating the singapore sling cocktail - so its kind of something you have to do! The hotel and cocktails were gorgeous but it was so exspensive (as alcool is all over singapore)! We only stayed for one round of drinks! Its quite random though as on all the tables and at the bar theres bowls of monkey nuts, which once you've shelled you throw the rubbish on the floor! I wouldn't want to be the cleaner there - there where piles of nut shells everywhere! Mum, you would have died!! We moved onto another bar - but the night life here isn't too cracking and after been told it would cost me $40 for a malibu and coke in the third bar, i decided to turn on my heels (well my flip flops) and make a hasty retreat back to the hostel!
Today was our last day in singapore and we've just been getting ourselves sorted for heading to Australia tomorrow, which included laundry and packing!! Yuk!! I'm begining to detest that back pack! In fact i loathe and detest it !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok i'm going to sign off its late and i have to be up for an early flight down under! I have such a tough life!!
Lots of love
