7:45 - Just sat waiting to be picked up to go in the trek and I am really nervous but at the same time really excited. Can't believe I am going white water rafting eek!
15:30 - Well what a day. It has been such an experience so far! We were the first to be picked up then Kat and Bart then the Italian crew! Our tour guide Bon was as gay as they come and his sense of humor was not very humourous for some but he was lovely really. We stopped at the orchid farm which was ok and then went to the elephant dung factory or ka ka as they call it here. After that we went to the area where they do white water rafting! There was Ben, me, Kat, Bart, Luca and Luca. It was great fun and we ended up having water fights with the people in the other rafts! Once we were past the rapids we had to get on a bamboo raft. Well ours was not exactly a raft. It sunk so the whole way down stream we were sat with the water past our waist. The captain of our raft was howling he found it hilarious, but he had the luxury of sitting in the blow up raft attached to ours.
23:56 - When we arrived at the elephant park we were greeted by a field of elephants (19) 100 meters from where we sleep! It's such amazing sight and the scenery here is incredible!
We all sat down to eat at 7 just simple food such as rice, stir fried veg and yellow chicken curry. We then went and sat around the fire with a burmeese band playing the guitar and drums made of a tin roof, tin can and plastic containers it was brilliant. One of the Italian guys could also play the guitar so we were singing British songs to! Everyone was also a little merry after drinking lots of Thai whiskey which I don't even think my dad would touch! The camp staff provided us all with Chinese lanterns to let off which was really nice especially where we were as the sky was so clear and it was dark everywhere so you could see them for miles.
Woke up this morning at 7:30 ready to get ready to go on the elephants he he. Went to brush our teeth and were rewarded with the sight of a mahout washing his elephant and singing. It was amazing to see. Can't wait to get on one now! Hehe! Just sat down to have breakfast now so not long to go!
13:37 - Wow the elephants were amazing! We had to practice on the elephants with commands before we could leave to go on a walk but that was good too! The elephant me and Ben had was a little cheeky and kept spraying its trunk at us lol. Once we had finished walking around the jungle we had to take them for a wash in the lake which got us soaked. We had to pour water over the elephant and scrub them with a scrubbing bush. Our elephant seemed to enjoy it and just laid down relaxing haha. I have decided I want an elephant now when we get home. My legs are killing from trying to stay on as we rode them bare back. It has been such an experience even down to the part where I had to share my shower with a cockroach and a frog!! We are just on our way back to Chiang mai now but I wish we could stay here a little longer! The staff her have been amazing and could not do enough for you. I would recommend it to anyone interested in seeing elephants that are treated really well and want to have a bit of a laugh at the same time! FANTASTIC! X
