Hello, a journal entry at last from Oz!!
The last 3 weeks have been the best of the trip so far!! Oz is a totally different world.......Adelaide was the starting point and the place was boiling hot. I met Peter, a relative out there who kindly picked us up from the airport, and took us to the accomodation. Adelaide was a nice place, very quiet and not backpacker orientated. We visited Glene;g beach, which was beautiful, but apart from that, there is Rundall Mall, and that is it...... A good place to start in Oz!
We the arrived in Melbourne...... What a place, buzzing with activity and a GREAT nightlife, it was certainly worth the 10days we spent there. during the days we visited the St Kilda festival, which was worth a visit; although very windy! Federation Sq, the futuristic part of the city is very pictoresque and a stroll through there was certainly worth it. There was also that awesome day at the MCG, where the Barmy Army cheered the cricket boys to victory in the first ODI final!! and we were there!!! The best game i have ever seen! The beers hepled, and along with the 30degree heat, the day was perfect!!
After Melbourne we went to Canberra and stayed witha friend for 6days, the house was a massive treat, and was nice seeing a face we know from home!! Although a quiet place, we visited the AIS, a sports academy for top athletes, and the place was enormous!! with 2 olympic sized swimming pools, one with an underwater viewing deck!! We also visited the War Memorial, which was cool, and the Parliamentary buildings were also visted. Probably wouldn't have stayed as long if we weren't at a mates house.
We are now in Sydney, where we have a week, and today was spent shopping, and going to Darling Harbour, which was beautiful, although a little overcast. The Opera house and harbour are next on the agenda......so looking forward to seeing the sights of sydney!!!!
