Hello one and all,
At the end of our great ocean road adventure we finished up in Adelaide, when we arrived here I thought Christ, there isnt much going on. In fact our tour guide Bill told us that most people say "drove through adelaide once, I think it was closed". We checked into our accommodation in Adelaide another YHA hostel, which was really nice and clean. The kitchen and games room was immaculate very impressed! We had a good read up on the weather forecast and sure enough, the sun was coming out and it was going to be 39 degrees!
After our little thai meal with the guys from the great ocean road tour we had a little wander around the streets to find that it was as quiet as people said it was. Quite a welcome relief from the hustle and bustle of Sydney, which can get a little intense at times. We headed back to our hostel for some bo peep. The next day we went for a walk to see the city sights and took plenty of snaps of the place, which we were beginning to warm to. It is very lush and green here as you can see from the pics, the botanical gardens kind of look like a forest setting from England which we kind of liked for obvious reasons.
Have to say the botanical gardens were really impressive and it was the first gardens that we actually took the full tour around, seeing as it was so beautiful. We headed into the South Australia museum where they were having a Da Vinci Exhibit, we didnt unfortunately go in to see the master at work as we are trying to keep our money back for New Zealand tomorrow. We did however - at great expense - hire some pedallos for a brief paddle along the Adeliade river, which was really pretty with its fountains and wildlife.
Shame we didnt have longer in Adelaide as there is much to explore - the Adelaide hills and the bays like Glenelg. We did unfortunately have only one night and two days so kinda rush rush. To be honest there are only two cities in Australia that have really impressed us, Brisbane being one and Adelaide the other - I think its a real taste of home - which was nice.
Anyways off to New Zealand tomorrow so will try our best to keep you updated, the tour of New Zealand lasts for 12 days so hopefully be in touch before then. Really nice to hear from you all, take care x x x Dan and Shell x x x
