Hello Blog followers!
You last heard from us at Ayers Rock and so now the story continues...
We left Uluru and flew to Perth for one night. This lead us to the most insufferable room mate we had ever encountered. His snoring was international standard which you may assume is only befitting since he resided in a Hostelling International establishment. He snoring sounded like a lorry being driven by a toddler and was on and off all night. Our flight the following day to Darwin was a quiet one and at 8.30 we were glad to be on our way. We arrived in Darwin that afternoon and stayed in a nice-ish hostel and met some interesting people. We planned to visit either or both national parks but found it possible to visit one. Our roomate Ed (from England) with his never-ending lady dramas and cheerful character joined us in a car with Marni a nice girl from Melbourne who we coerced into taking us to the park. We visited Wangi falls and tried to find some lunch. Later that afternoon we took a dirt road adventure back toward Darwin. With little on the agenda the Australlian Apprentice final kept us entertained before saying our goodbyes and flying back to Perth.
We met my relative Norma and family in Fremantle, Perth. We spent some time preparing for our trip to South Africa but managed to visit Fremantle prison and see a film that afternoon. We had lots of delicious food and went round to Norma's sister for a good evening meal. Norma took us on a tour around Perth and we saw a bit more of the city. We saw Cottesloe beach and Kings Park. Toward the end of our stay we met Rebecca Sterry whom we previously met in New York and spent an afternoon catching up. Finally it was time to leave Australia and head for South Africa so we arrived in good time and prepared to enter the final leg of our journey.
