Hello all,
This is a belated new year blog, I felt the need to write it today as my mother is on the case!! Sorry Mum! So we have basically not stopped since we landed in Wellington. We booked a little
cottage by the beach at Castlepoint for new year. We were excited to go as Chris and I had seen pics of the beach and it looked amazing and when we got there we were not disapointed as you can see by
the photies. On the way to Castlepoint we stopped in Martinborough which is famous for its wineries (I can just see Mum and Aunty Maureen salivating as I am writing this!!) We hired bikes there and
cycled around tasting wine! Getting drunk and keeping fit what an awesome combo!! We purchased a couple of bottles after having a wee taste to wet our whistles for that evening to celebrate the
coming year! (I feel so sophistacated writing this, those of you that know me will know better!!)
After the tasting and cycling Miles the sobre one of the party drove us on to Castlepoint. It was funny trying to find the cottage as it was in the middle of nowhere and we had no phone reception.
The funniest part was when we were driving through a small row of holiday cottages and Miles thought it best to ask some folk by the road how to get to our place. He wound down the window and as he
started to ask for directions we all spotted one of the guys had a gun and they were shooting at a rabbit that was down a drain!! I was a little nervous but they directed us to where we had to be! As
we drove away they threw the rabbits carcas onto the road....nice!! So after the adventure of finding our digs we were really pleased when we got there. The cottage was really nice clean lovely views
as you can see on the pics in the album.
At around 5 ish the boys and I went to have a surf and George stayed at the cottage and had a chill. When we got to the beach it looked a bit cold for my liking so I took some snaps and the boys
had a surf. When we got back to the cottage we had some dinner and a few drinks nothing too wild but we enjoyed the quiet and chilled night sipping on our lovely wine selection. The funny thing was
we all felt really merry esp. me so I said 'How much have I had?" when I checked I had not even had half a bottle which is shocking!! Light weight or what!!
The next day we all had a surf which was great and I got thrown off a treat the waves were the biggest I have ridden so when I fell off I knew it! Chris is coming on a treat he is going to be
hitting the pro circuit when we get back....watch oot Kelly Slater!!
Anyway that is your New Year installment, I am going to get Chris to write one about our Tongariro Crossing adventure so keep posted......
Love Frankiexxxx (and Chris who is packing up his bits and bobs)
