Mui Ne is a stunning beach that offers fish sauce and kitesurfing, but not together. Its a large fishing bay and each night you can watch hundreds of boats out in the bay shinning powerful lights into the sea to attract the fish. Some fisherman still choose to paddle out, in my opinion, the most ridiculous sea going craft I've ever seen. A sort of giant walnut shell that looks like it could tip over very easily. Outside of the town we drove past farms and houses with giant plastic sheets in the sun that have hundreds of drying fish lying over them. The smell of the area was unmistakable rotting fish, which will later get pulped together to make one of the staple ingredients of every South East Asian meal, fish sauce. Mui Ne is also the kitesurfing capital of Vietnam, it has IKO schools, perfect cross-shore wind conditions that blow a consistent speed, and no cliff faces or sharp rocks for the kitesurfers to slam into in. We finished out last few days in Vietnam on the beach watching about 30 kitesurfers on the water, and planning out how to survive in our next stop, India. Cooper Out Love Dan & Kat
