Arrive at our stop and LJ and Pete are comin here too...We met these guys at Sunrise resort..
Checking into our own double room which looked like a tiny cottage- lovely!
We have dinner and start drinking with LJ and Pete, played some drinking games and when the bar closed we got a few more cans and made our way to the beach. LJ and Pete left the next day..they are off to Kuata.
Chilled out on the beach, lots of reading and sleeping..Evening comes and we get ready for dinner. As we are looking out to sea, a guy comes over and asks us if we are nervous..."huh??!"
After eating, a staff member sat down and said "are you getting worried?" Lisa replied..."should we be?"...he kinda grinned , thats when we overheard the conversation on the next table...
"Cyclone ....140km winds...heading straight for us..."....Oh God..we wanted to use the internet so walked to the office..
In there, Ben - the dive instructor was checking the Met office report...apparently the met office hadnt noticed that the cyclone was hitting Fiji and it was heading straight for the Yasawas (the islands we were on)..
The report said it should hit us at 10pm, as the night wore on it seemed calm so the Fijians presumed it had missed us..
Woke up to very strong winds and Fijians shouting and hammering wood to cover windows etc. Seems like the met office didnt just miss the cyclone coming their timing was all wrong too!
We are told to get dressed , take our valubles and head for the concrete building. Breakfast was served...Looks like we are stuck here for another night..no Beachcomber party for us! Spent most of the day cooped up waiting out the storm, we managed to laugh it off just about. So now we are left wondering how and when we will be able to catch our flight to New Zealand..
Well our afternoon got slightly more entertaining when we returned to our Bure (which now had holes in the wall) it had apparently become a bird shelter. Thank the lord Lisa had been treated for her bird phobia!!! So to break up the boredom we were chasing birds out of the holes in the walls (you can soooo imagine it cant you) teehee...and removing giant bugs from Jayne's leg...ewwww..
We were told it was food supply day so not sure what they have left to feed us..but we still have some cereal bars - thanks for the advice Jeanine..!!
