HELLO EVERYONE!!!
This is our first ever blog update, we are so sorry that it has takjen nearly a week to post an update, we have been so busy and the internet in our hotel wasnt working :(
Anyways, we are missing everyone loads and we hope your missing us too. So, as I said, we have been up to so much so far the time has literally flown by!!
We arrived in Bangkok on NYE at about 4pm and checked into our hotel where we were staying for 5 nights. It was a nice hotle and the room was really nice, although our view was of some slums :( oh well. We literally dumped our bags and unpacked a bit, (but not much as we didnt want to have to pack our massive bags again lol). We headed out to the main strip for travellers, which is called Khao San road. We took a tuk-tuk there. A tuk-tuk is like a taxi, only it is a moped with a carriage on the back. Absolutely crazy, but a great experience and a lot of fun! Also very cheap. So we got to Khao San and it was booming, the streets were heaving with travellers and locals all raving to music from the bars. We went in to the livliest one and brought a beer tower between us. We got chatting to a Welsh couple called Ant and Kayla and had a few drinks with them. We all got battered and saw in the New Year in style! Better than revs or rattlers lol!!!
We had made plans to meet Ant and Kayla the next day at 3 for some lunch and to get on the beers again, but becuase of our jet lag and hangover we didnt wake up until 5 lol. In the end they didnt turn up coz they were too hungover too but met them that night and had drinks and went clubbing. We picked up a little gang along the way of random Ozzies and Americans, it was so funny as accents were flying all over the place. We also tried cooked bugs that night too, like fried scorpian, and maggots lol. I'm a celeb style, and they were filth! Got a video of a dirty german man eating bags of them!! He got abused!
Feeling guilty from sleeping till 5 the next day we got up early and went for breakfast at 6.30am. We headed out to a ferry port, where we got a boat trip up the main river in Bangkok and along the canals. It was really nice but it showed us the real side to Bangkok and just how poor it is :(
After that we got dropped at the kings palace and did a bit of sight seeing, and we even went to a temple and preyed to a Buddha that is supposed to bring you health and luck. lol was too funny us preying with candles in our hands to a god we dont even believe in.
We headed back via tuk-tuk about 3 and went and layed in Lumpini park for a couple of hours, before getting the dirtiest KFC i have ever tasted. It was blatently a Zinger dog burger or something. We was looking forward to some english food as we had been eating street food a lot. This tastes a lot better than it sounds and is just like noodles and rice etc.
The next day we went on a full day excursion. Got to go to a floating market, which is a market, but in a river. The locals have boats with the stuff they want to sell in and the toursits float down the middle in our rented boats buying stuff on the river.. Its jokes and amazing. Then we went to ride an elephant through the jungle and also to a snake show where we both held a python!!!!!!!!! After lunch we watched an elephant show, where they got them to play football lol and also a crocodile show.
We started our Roam Cambodia excursion yesterday but as it was the first day it was just meetings in our hotel in Bangkok. We met the people we will be with for the next 10 days and there are 16 of us. Everyone is really nice and we're having a good laugh. We set off from Bangkok this morning 5-1-11 on a mini-bus for a 7 hour ride over the border in to Cambodia. We arrived at about 4.30 and at 5 we were straight out for dinner. They surprised us and took us to this slum village with loads of homeless children. There was a school set up to teach the Cambodian children English and we got to sit in and help teach a classs. It was such a great experience and the kids were wicked. It wasa real eye opener to how poor they are over here and what a different life they live.
They did us a 5 course dinner which included SNAKE as a starter! It wasnt the nicest food I have ever had, put it that way. And we have just got back to the hotel now where i am writing this from!
We are going to the seventh wonder of the world, Ankwar Wat tomorrow to watch the sunrise and explore the temples. Tomb Raider was set in one of them if any of you have seen it so should be wicked. Got to be up at 4.30 though!!! Ahhhh!
Missing you all loads and hope you are all well
Lots of Love
