Well hello everyone,
Again appolgies that we have not been keeping up to date on the old bloggy but we have been having an awesome time i can asure you. Hopefully Jaimees emails are keeping you a little bit up to date. If you are not getting these and would like to please send a postcard to [email protected] and let her know.
Well what have we been up to since Taupo in the North island, blimey. On the day we left we played golf at the hotel where the Lord Of the Rings cast stayed which was very fancy unlike the course. It was raining and horrible though so it was quite cold but was a laugh becuase our oppo were in shorts and sandals im sure some of you will be interested to know we won.
Then it was onto River Vally and the lodge where I went white water rafting on the Rangitiki river which was very cool. Its not as extreeme as you might think and for a lot of it was a very sceenic cruise down and very beautiful river. Jaimee was wise and stayed home and did her diary and has remained up to date through out the trip unlike me.
From there it was onto Wellington where we endulged Jaimee in one of her favourite past times and shopped, not just for us though some of you lucky cherubs have got pressies winging their way back to you too, how exciting! We basically chilled out here in our nice hostel becuase there wassnt a lot of things i could throw myself off of or cause a need for new undies.
Then it was across the stunning Cook Straight to Picton and on towards Nelson. The entry into the South island is more than words can describe. Winds so stong they can hold you at acute angles. Dolphins, clear water, the sun, and dessolate grassy hills running down to the coast much like Scotland.
We passed the centre of NZ as we entered Nelson, Autumn was definatly in the air here with the colourful trees with mapple like leaves bigger than your head. We cooked a meal that was so bad i doubt whether Dillon (Colins dog) would have even eaten it. So to drown our sorrows we went out with some of the other guys off the buss to a local pool hall which was a pretty good night.
Nelson to westport again showed us yet more views to remember. We got some huge icecreams to savor on the buss and we crusied down the Buller gorge one of the best drives in NZ. Here we had a go in a jet boat with 870bhp doing 360 spins at 50knotts and stopping within yards soaking us head to toe. Fun but very cold and wet. That night we had fish and chips with the other 90 kiwi experience guys, i wonder whether Ampthill chippy could handle that order?
Then it was on to Lake Mahinapua and the famous poo party where everyone has to think of a costume to wear buy it in town and then get drunk at Les's hotel. Something we achieved in great style. I went as Pamala anderson and Jaimee as Pipi Longstocking. You'll get to see the pics when we get time to get them on here!
A fairly late departure the next day to allow some with lower stamina than ourelves to get on the bus. From there is was onto Franz Josef and the well known glaciers. We did a 6 hour hike into the depths of the beast which was amazing and got some pretty fine pictures to remember it by. The next day we did our skydive over the glaciers, mount cook, the rain forest and the tasman coast. it was easy to see why many reguard it as the best skydive in the world. Again youll get to see the pics soon and hopefully youll agree.
From Franz it was onto Wanaka a loverly town that had a real funky vibe to it as for a lot of the year it was a mekka to all the snow loving clowns that come to NZ. We stayed in a nice hotel and soak up what wanaka had to offer for 3 days which was great, this was one of our fav places so far.
Well we have run out of time on our internet card so again we'll have to cut it short. Sorry for all the typos. Hopefully well get to do the blog properly one day soon.
