Our last day; cleanup day for odds-and-end species, ones we’ve missed. Limited success on that account, but this morning’s goal was a hike to the cave where the Oilbirds roost. These are large nocturnal birds that echolocate like bats. The only nocturnal fruit-eating birds, they haven’t been studied much, but it’s thought that they don’t have any source of protein.
