The day after our trip to Como, we hopped on the train to Venice. There were two sweet, old Italian ladies on the train next to us who offered us some cookies and tried to talk to us, but we could not understand them. Venice is an amazing place and the B&B we stayed in was the nicest place to stay yet. The owner is a really nice woman named Silvia, who treats her guests very well. We walked the streets of Venice the last few days, exploring the shops and the many, many old churches and other buildings. Venice is famous for their hand blown glass, so there are tons of stores which sell the glass pieces. This is also the home of Italian Carnival, so there are a wide array of masks everywhere you go. The city is just as beautiful as it has always been portrayed, but very small, so you really can cover most of it in just a couple of days. There are a lot of orchestra concerts, operas, and other shows offered nightly here, but many are very pricey. We saw many vineyards on our train ride in, and right now we are enjoying some Veneto wine. There are wine shops here where you can take any empty bottles you have and they will fill you up, 2 Euro per liter! Very strong red wine!
We leave for our last stop in just a few hours, Rome! We won't get there until late tonight, so we are not going to be able to update until tomorrow. That is, if it isn't too hard to find internet there too. Love you all!
