So...Vietnam was fantastic.
Hanoi
We arrived in Hanoi on the 19th September, stayed in an amazing hotel as a present from my dad for 2 days...did not leave the room! having a flush on the loo, as well as hot water was too much of a treat. We then checked into "Hanoi Backpackers Hostel"...which was rooms of 20 bunk beds...bit of a change from the hotel!....there we met the most fantastic group of mates who were also working their way down south. Did some "touristy things" in Hanoi...went to the prison and learnt about the war...which it took 3 weeks to actually work out who was on whose side...i have resulted to not believing the americans are devils like it says in all the museums.
We then went on a boat trip to Halong Bay which is amazing!! in fact i cant describe so go back and look at the pictures on facebook. it was unlike anything i have ever seen. There were about 20 of us on the boat, and we had a nmassive party, chilled out and went kayaking....Emily and i got in the kayak, but couldnt peddle and ended up getting stuck at the back of the boat (typical)...we then decided it would be more us to sunbathe in the boat, and we drifted to a beautiful lagoon with only us there...so we had a gossip and listened to our voices echo... There was a typhoon on the way so we had to leave a day early so we all went back to Hanoi for one last night.
Ninh Binh
The next stop was Ninh Binh, 10 of us from hanoi went together to go to a place called Tamcoc which is an amazing area of mountains surrounded by rice paddies. we rented bikes and got a boat ride down the river through all the caves and mountains...it was amazing for 10 minutes..but then it was so boring we got the ipod out! Go the night bus to Hoi An but instead of seats they were beds! this would have been fantastic had we not been at the front with beeping horrible drivers who said we wernt allowed to talk!!!
Hoi An
Hoi An is the place to get clothes made...all we did was relax, have fun and get to know the mates we were traveling with. they were so funny and the 8 of us had the best time. its so sad that we have all moved on now!
Nha Trang
Went on a boat trip for the day to 4 islands...we snorkeled, did karaoke, sunbathed and ate and it was such a fun day out. the group leader was soooo funny and really made the day worth it.
Mui Ne
Went to the sand dunes...jumped on plastic sheets and surfed down them. it was sooo fun! i was very adventurous. Got on motor bikes there and on the way back we were in a huge storm...that was great! (not)
Saigon
Had an 80's party for our friends birthday where we all dressed up, and of course went to the cu chi tunnels. they were very cool, and even though i am a giant wuss i crawled through them. on the way back i went to the war museums where i read and read and read about the "devil" americans!
so...Vietnam was great but mostly due to the people we were with...next stop. AUSTRALIA.
