Our next stop was the very sleepy town of Agnes Water. Only has 2000 residents. Arrived at the hostel and were a bit suprised - it was a bit of a shed to stay the least - however turned out to be one of the best places we stayed!! After checking in we asked the girl at reception what there was to do on a night, she simply pointed at the table in the courtyard and said "Go buy some goon and sit there!" And so we did. Made friends with the guys you see in the pic, all very nice - one very big character "Daf" the crazy cockney. So after much goon consumed we headed off to bed. Next day Clare wasn't feeling too clever, so lots of lazing round the hostel. Did go on a quick tour of the town - quick because it's soooo small!! Very quaint you might say! That night back to the table for more goon (not for Clare tho!!!). The next day we braved the "Thunder Cat." This is a rubber dingy type boat that is designed to jump over waves. They race them in South Africa and according to the owner of the boat this is the only one made for commercial use! Was a really fun afternoon crashing round on the waves. The owner reckoned we were getting heights of 4metres when we were jumping the waves! However another day tainted with saddness as Jims sunglasses got washed away to sea after a particularly bad jump over one of the waves. Good job they were only three pound fakes! That night guess what... yep we sat round the table and drank goon. Last day we pottered round the town, went to the beach, then of course one last sit round the table with our new found friends. AFter some emotional goodbyes we got on the bus for our longest jounrey (and most uncomfortable)Â yet.
