Wagamama now holds the same familiarity for me as Starbucks once did a few years ago. I knew what my order would be before I was even seated (I'm such a frequent visitor the specials menu hasn't changed yet) So, a pork dumpling soup and a flowering Jasmine tea (new menu addition) it is then.
Terminal 5 is a positive oasis of calm. You'd never know there was a security threat here only yesterday or that all flights to Japan have been cancelled because of the earthquake. It has to be the most serene and organised airport terminal I've ever experienced. It could be the complete antithesis of Mumbai. Time will tell on that one. My initial thoughts put this calmness down to newness, organisation, efficient processes.... But then I couldn't help but wonder.... T5 is a BA terminal, entirely. Does this say more about BA passengers than it does about the efficient processes? I'm beginning to liken it to my theory on the M6 toll road (you get a different class of service station when the people who are there are prepared to pay for the privilege). My flowering tea has now flowered (see pic) and after a day of busyness tastes delicious. Soup has arrived. Time to eat.
Soup was handsome. Totally hit the spot. Although I now feel very tired and very hot. I'm hoping the proactive liquid intake will balance out the dehydrating effects of the flight, which seem to have a greater impact on me these days than they ever did. Think headache from hell. Before you comment, I never drink alcohol when I fly. Never have done. So this isn't to blame.
Despite the plethora of high end retailers that T5 has to offer, I don't think I want to shop. It's the end of a very busy week and I feel rather quite worn out. I'm hoping this might mean more than my usual amount of sleep on the plane (avg. 30mins). That coupled with the too reasonable to resist upgrade fee when I checked in...
Right, off to the gate now... Oh go on then, via Ted Baker it is :-)
