The highlights of today were definitely the two yoga classes. As I said, the shala is beautiful and it has a wonderful energy about it. The floor, BTW, is Eco friendly compacted cow dung, not mud. And for those of you who are wondering, no it doesn't smell. Pam's style of yoga is wonderful and her lineage is Sivananda, so in many ways it feels like a homecoming as I float into some of the postures. That said, I cam feel a tightness round my chest and waist and I found this afternoons pranayama and lateral stretches very uncomfortable. There are only two other women here - Sarah who lives nr High Wycombe and an older lady called Anna, who lives in Sussex. Both lovely but very different.
I'm shocked by how cheap everything is here. I paid 20 rupees for a tea (masala chai to be precise) at lunchtime at a beach cafe, which equates to the grand sum of 28p. It is mighty delicious. Apparently they boil up the milk, tea, spices, water and sugar in a pan. The result is completely different then a PG tips pyramid bag, I tell you!
Sarah and I were accosted on the beach today by the sarong selling ladies. We managed to swot (swat?) them away at first, but their wares were just too tempting! And so cheap! You could turn up here with next to nothing, travel for 6 months and still go home with change in your pocket.
