The luxury cruise ship Maheno, the most famous of Fraser Island's ship wrecks, was driven ashore north of Eli Creek in 1935. The trans-Tasman liner was being towed to Japan for wrecking when a cyclone cut her adrift. (Ye i copied this from a website!)
