Hello from Cape Town!!!
Somehow another month has passed and what a month its been! Since getting to Zimbabwe we met up with our Overland Truck and our group that we would be travelling to Cape Town with. We were a group of 24 including our Tour leader and driver and got given our tent for our trip which was surprisingly comfy seeing that we had been used to sweltering rooms for nearly our whole time in Africa! So after squeezing in afternoon Tea at the Victoria Falls Hotel we departed on our 23 day trip across Southern Africa through Botswana, Namibia and finishing in South Africa.
We have enjoyed Sunset River Cruises in Chobe National Park, Botswana; Camping in proper bush camps, wading through thigh high water and travelling in 'Mokoros' on the Okavango Delta, Botswana; Game drives through Etosha National Park, Namibia; Hiding all of our food shopping that we had just bought in record time from the vegetable police at the checkpoints in Botswana; Sandboarding and Quad Biking in the Desert Dunes of Namibia's Swakupmund; Camping in the desert in Namibia; visiting Fish River Canyon in Namibia, the 2nd largest Canyon after the Grand Canyon; Climbing Dunes to watch the sunset in Namibia; Wimpy Stops (enough said); Stops to see the Seal Colonies in Namibia which was by far the most disgusting thing I have spelt in my life (and thats saying a lot!!); Visits to a Cheetah park in Namibia; a Whole Day Wine tasting and Shark Cage Diving in South Africa and climbing Table Mountain (OK so 'climbing' up to the cafe at the top of Table Mountain after getting the Cable car up but it still counts!!!); and finishing in Cape Town that feels completely different to any other part iof Africa especially with the ginormous sparkling Christmas Tree at the Waterfront with Table Mountai8n as a back drop and a Brass Band playing Traditional Christmas Music!
Its amazing how diverse the different places in Africa have been and how each of them have been so cool in different ways (if some of them slightly strange as well!!!) We were so lucky to have an awesome group to travel with on the Overland Truck which made the whole journey so enjoyable and memorable!
Next stop is Bangkok! We fly there this evening and are very sad to be leaving Africa after an amazing 10 weeks here but are very excited to start the next part of the journey in South East Asia!
Love to you all and hope you have an amazing Christmas!!! X
