Today has been relatively relaxing. Me and Chloe spent a large chunk of it at Singapore Zoo, one of the world's best zoos. I spent most of the time trying to get inspiration for my course assignment presentation, having arranged a meeting for my course assignment essay before leaving. It feels so weird how quickly 2019 has gone and getting important Uni stuff done just makes the whole thing feel so fast. Still, at least understanding what the hell to do with the code for my project is going slowly.
Singapore Zoo was, whilst not spartan, was far from full thanks to the mid-week visit. We saw the whole range. Orang Utans, Manatees, Elephants, Rhinos, Cheetahs, Babirusas, Catfish you name it. We also went on a river safari and saw Pandas! Zoos are a complex topic though if there is a good zoo its Singapore Zoo, as it has the resources and the effort to make these animals probably the luckiest zoo animals on Earth.
I've been half asleep all day thanks to that Borneo workout, as well as brushing up on my China knowledge. It's so surreal the idea of going there tomorrow. China, a massive important place. The big one. Probably the first place I ever dreamt of travelling to.
My time in Singapore ended with a trip to a fancy French restaurant with overly sarcastic waitors. It was a whole family trip, with Chloe's Hakka grandparents making the trip to in the VW Touran. And everything has finished with my finally having Durian - the famously smelly fruit of SE Asia.
It's been quite surreal being in Singapore with Chloe. I've appreciated the fancy room (her brother's, he's on military service). I've appreciated the chauffer service her mother has insisted she'd give. Singapore, is not my kind of place, but it has been interesting to see how the super rich live and experience luxury like I probably only experience, very fleetingly at best, ever again.
Onto China we go!
Ciao!
