Finally we have reached our destination of Kathmandu, 52 days on the Dragoman truck have now come to an end. I have had the most wonderful time on the truck, full of ups and downs but that I think that is India summed up. I certainly don't think that I would have been able to travel India independently, I enjoyed having the safety of the group and it is always nice to have some company. After a very long drvie through Nepal we finally make it to the lovely Royal Beach Camp just 90km from Kathmandu. We have a delicious home made dinner, then me and Sarah sat by the campfire for a couple of hours just chatting and relaxing after the 14 hours on the truck. The time has eventually come to leave India and I must say I am very excited about the prospect. I have had a great 2 months in India, seen so many good and bad things here but I am definatley ready for a change and cannot wait to explore Nepal. We leave India on one side of the bridge and check into Nepal on the otherside. Now we head on the long slow roads to Kathmandu.

Gangtok is in the Indian state of Sikkim right in the north of the country bordering Nepal, Tibet and Bhutan. We are still up in the mountains and the weather is still on the chilly side. However as this is such a wonderful place I am not in any hurry to leave and return to lower, warmer ground. The main high street here is weirdly westernised; it is a pedestrianised cobbled street with lots of shops on both sides and islands down the middle filled with flowers...

We are spending the next 3 days at Karmi Farm, a beautiful home stay situated on the side of the mountain. We walked part of the way here, it took over 4 hours to walk down to the bottom of the valley, down 5000ft. It certainly took its toll on the knees which were a pretty sore by the end.
