Well we have arrived in Sihanoukville, it was a 4 hour bus ride from Phenom Penh. Its nice to be by the sea again as i much prefer this as its more relaxing and it seems more like a holiday then than travelling, but the plan is not to stay here long as we dont want to get tied here and spend stupid amounts of money.
First impressions of the place is ok really, since being to Thailand i am always going to compare it to that and it is nothing like Thailand. There seems to be a lot of litter here as the locals just seem to dump it on the floor instead of proper disposal. And that attracts a lot of rats which do apear in the night which isnt the best thing to see. When we arrived we hunted for a place to stay and that was hard work as we didnt know where the hell we were going, from the lonely planet it said that serendipity beach was the back packing area and the more popular beach. We strolled down the beach poping in to guest houses and seeing what they had to offer, they were ok but for some of the prices they were charging it wasnt worth it, eventually we came to a place that said 'Free Accomodation', we thought yeah whatever and enquiered and it was as advertised as free. Bargain. Although it was an atic room that had to be shard with 5 other people we thought we might as well to save some cash. There is litterally a thin and i mean thin matress and a solid cushion as a pillow and a mozzy net and our bags are locked in a room down stairs and there is only one key so when ever we need something we all have to go to the person who has the key which is abit annoying. The showers and toilets are wrank to say the leased its basically a hut with a hole in the floor with no toilet paper and the shower is a big vase full of water witha saucepan provided to poor on your self, there is no sink or mirror to clean your teeth (Nice) so we are proper roughing it now. We've stayed here for 3 nights now its not that bad but i think i would have left after the second night, we have only stayed an extra night because we need to sort our Vietnamese Passport our.
The water is very clean and the beaches are nice but its not thailand which i should stop doing comparing places but you naturally do. The beach is massive it goes on for about 3/4 of a mile and it is packed with bars and restaraunts all the way up and they arent very cheap either to be honest. I think we want to move on tomorrow as we are getting bored now as there isnt much to do, although we went to a cinema up the road, that was pretty cool, we watched the beach and it was on $2 and the chairs were well comfy but apart from that there isnt much to do apart from eat and drink, which is dangerous for me at the best of times so we will be heading to the Vietnam border tomorrow morning and may stay in a town before that called Kampot, apparently theyt have really cool waterfalls there but we'll see.
I'll keep you posted.
See yallxxx
