Koh Phi Phi - Just like the previous islands we have been on the majority of our days were spent on the beach relaxing and topping up the tan. On some nights we went down to the beach to watch the different fire shows that the various bars had on offer. We did take a hike up to the top of the island to a lookout point at sunset one night. The view over the island was beautiful and as the sun was setting it cast the most amazing colours on the sea and sand below. Kirsty and I did have a day each where we were not feeling very well but it didn't stop us having a really good time on the island. The 4th was mainly spent travelling on boat, bus and plane to get to Kuala Lumpa. There was a moment of high drama after getting out of the bus at the airport and Kirsty went to get a trolley as the bags were being unloaded. When she came back she realised she had forgotten her small back pack that was still on the bus. The bus had pulled away from us and was heading away from the airport. After a short and somewhat girlie attempt to stop the bus it was left to me to kick off my flip flops and chase down the bus. I ran down the middle of the road, jumped over hedges and through the parking lot just to catch up with it. All the while screaming, shouting and whistling like a loony, but the bus driver never seen or heard me. When I finally caught up with the bus and banged on the side of it the driver got such a shock that when I tried to explain about the left bag he just looked at me confused. So I jumped in the back and retrived the bag thankfully.

As this was our first day in Kuala Lumpur we thought it best to go and see the Petronas Twin Towers, as they are one of the highlights in KL. They were certainly very impressive and the bridge joining the two towers half way up was quite a sight. After this we went to China town for a look round the market. Yes yet another market! It was interesting but it was packed to the rafters with all sorts of things for sale. We just wandered round for the rest of the afternoon taking in the sights of KL. That night we took it reasonably easy and just went to a food center for dinner and took a walk round the market outside the hotel and watched a movie.

Today we went to the Mega Mall which is a massive shopping centre about ten times the size of Braehead. Again everything was on sale here and we spent a lot of time in and out of the various sports shops. Our major event for the day was when we were trying to get on the Monorail it was very busy and as everybody squeezed to get on I unfortunately found myself on the wrong side of the doors as the closed and the train took off with Kirsty inside and me on the outside. I think she just did it to get rid of me for a while, but thankfully the next train came in a few minutes so I didn't need to wait long to catch up with her. That night one of our friends that we met in Fiji and then again in Melbourne arrived in KL. So after we met her and had a little catch up we all went down to Chinatown took to look round the market and get some dinner. After a quick look and some food we ended up chilling in a reggae bar telling stories from our travels and catching up on everything that has happened since we last saw each other.

Today we departed for Singapore and after the goodbye's were said Kirsty and I headed for the airport. However the flight ended up getting delayed for a while and we spent the majority of the day at the airport. That really sucked :(. However once we arrived in Singapore and dropped our bags off at the hostel we went to a big food market in Newton Circus. We went there because Kirsty's mum and dad made friends with one of the ladies that owns one of the stalls. She's called Mae. When we walked up to her stall she instantly recognised Kirsty and came straight over. After a bit of chat with her we sat down to the best food we have had for a long time it was delicious. After our meal we went down to the Clarke Quay area to walk round the various bars and night spots it had to offer. One such place was called the Clinic and they serve drinks in drip bags, syringes and even mouth wash bottles. The highlight came when we sat down in an old style wheel chair that still worked. It was really funny to get served drinks that way and be in a wheel chair. Kirsty and I had lots of fun wheeling around the street in them.

Today was spent walking round various shopping districts and there are a lot of them in Singapore. Firstly we went to Orchard Road which has loads of shops but mainly high priced fashion shops, so as you can imagine Kirsty and I were only looking. The shopping malls and the street itself was full of shoppers all spending lots of money. Kirsty and I were very jealous. We then went back to the area where we were staying called Pagoda street in China town and walked round there. This was much more in our price bracket especially when you can haggle them down. We look at all the tacky souviner stuff that you could buy and also all the different cultural stuff as well. We grabbed a quick bite to eat here as we were going on the night safari and wouldn't get the chance to eat later. After dinner we travelled out to the Night Safari which we were both looking forward to as it had been highly recommended by other travellers. The bus journey out was like being a sardine, to say it was snug would be under estimating how many people were on that bus. The first thing we did when we got into the safari was go and watch the animal show. It was very entertaining and funny as well as being informative about the animals in the show. The highlights were when the otters showed us all how to recycle by picking out the plastic, paper and cans from the rubbish. The one trying to put the can in the bin had a little trouble letting it go and juggled with it for a while, which was hilarious as the trainer tried to get him to put it in the bin. Another funny point was when the trainers pretended that they had lost an animal and where looking for it whilst screaming and shouting to get the audience scared. When they finally "found" the animal it was a huge snake that four trainers had to hold as it was that big. Obviously the person's seat they had placed it under was a little scared to sit back down after seeing that. After the show we took the tram ride around the safari and seen all the animals. We then walked round it again to get a little closer and try and get some pictures but as it was night and they dont allow you to use the flash the pictures did not come out so good. The Safari was really interesting and great fun. It gave us the chance to see animals that you wouldn't normally see in a zoo as all the animals were nocturnal.

This was the last day of our trip. Kirsty and I were excited but also sad at the thought that our trip was over. We had the full day to fill so AGAIN we went to another shopping center/market. It was a bit of a let down because we thought we would get some last minute pressie's there, but there were none to be had. So we made the trip back across town to Chinatown to pick up the last of the presents there. After this we went to the world famous Raffles Hotel to have a look at it but to also sample a Singapore Sling in the Long Bar. This famous cocktail was invented in that very hotel many years ago and it was very tasty. The unusual thing about the bar is the serve peanuts in the shells and once you open them up you just throw the shells on the floor. It was a really nice place and we could see why the hotel had such a famous reputation. Once we had got back to the hostel we had time to catch a quick shower before we went to the airport for our flight home.
The journey around the world has been fantastic! We have met so many wonderful people along the way who have become life long friends. The numerous sights we have seen and the experience's we have had will live with us forever. We hope that you have enjoyed reading our blog and by looking at the pictures and video's, this has made you feel a part of our journey as well.
