Hello,
well its been a while so hear goes..
Hue: Old and surounded but one hell of a wall. It also has the tallest flag pole in Vietnam. We spent one day here and it was quite eventful. We got shown round the tombs outside of Hue by a very excited lady who took us to her house and fed us tea. The tombs were really impressive, you woner if the people who are buired there really appiciate it or not. Chris crashed a moped evil knievel style whilest parking on a cerb... no one was hurt.. it was more style than substance! Then he lost his cash card for a second time in a cash point and for the second time reterved it with little problem. Oh and he lost his hat. All in all not a good day from him! :(
Hanoi: Woohoo is the best way to discribe our meeting with the girls and boys from oxford. I was expecting it to feel a little weird meeting up with them half way across the world, but it wasnt which is what made it feel werid if you catch my drift. Acouple of days in Hanoi dodging traffic, drinking beer and watching incredibly weird water puppetry and it was off to Halong bay!
Which was increadible! Its really difficult to discribe so i'd look at the pick if i were you. Relaxing on a boat floting though limestone island and yet again drinking beer. The weather was increadible.. it didnt rain once! We went for a little trek on cat ba island (the only inhabited island in halong bay) straight up a massive hill. I dont think i have ever sweated as much. Theres us lot driping with sweat in walking shoes and big bottles of water while our guide didnt even look out of breath and was wearing flip flops. She told us she walks up twice a day everyday with different groups.. rather her than me! Tom almost plumeped to his death from the top but he didnt seem to concerned about it! All in all it was bloody brilliant!
Saying good buy to Janey, Meesh, Tom, Chris Tate and.. there was someone else.. mmm.. who was that.. ugly and smelly.. oh yeah and Paddy was a sad moment. But 2 months will go by fast and we shall see some of them again in south america.
We are now in the mountains again near the chinese border in a place called Sapa. Its rained non stop since we got here so we have done very little apart from drink coffee and eat cake! when something more exciting happens il fill you in.
lots of love
hannah and chris
