Back in civilisation at last. Singapore was close but its was still too HOT!
We land in Sydney and walk out the plane saying 'its a bit nippy' and the flight attendants imediate responce was "no its bloody freezing!". It wasn't of course but its was very refreshing, ozzies don't know what real cold is. But the prospects of wearing jeans and hoodys and possibly even a jacket we're very exciting.
Out of the train station and there is Dave like a shining beacon of normality. Back at his flat there is tetleys and toast and TV and running hot water and toilets you can put paper down and sofas. And the same bed for more than 5 nights. 10 atuctually. And we slept a lot. Its was a strange feeling being on the other side of the world from home but having all these farmiliar conforts. And becuase its winter it looks like England too.
And it rained. We tried going out to do the sights but got soaked and had to do it all again the next day in order to do it properly. It was a bit depressing actually being cold and wet for the first time in months but secretly deep down inside I was loving it.
Until the novalty wore off that is and then we got stuck in to the sight seeing. The Habour is beautiful. They really knew how to make land marks. The Opera House is just as spectacular as you'd expect. And not all one building too! Its all in bits. We had the grand tour of the Blue Mountains with my aunt Fran and her mum. And we saw a bit more of Sydney - Bondi Beach and Watson Bay. And it didn't rain anymore.
Dave's flatmates are totally safe (this means good to all those not down with the kids.. ohh being able to edit this is cool.. ha ha chris will never know.. i could say anything.. wibble). But what would you expect for the safety officer himself. We came 4th in a pub quiz, saw bloody Ross Noble live which was pretty damn lucky. It was held at an arena in the Olimpic village which was interesting. Although we didn;'t get a great look as we were late and had to run through it. Apropriately athletic I might add. And went for an indie jiggle on oxford st and drank lots of VB. (damn good beer). Actually that night I had the best burger I've ever had. In oz Burger King is called Hungry Jacks and its stays open late for the drunk kids on a Saturday. But there was something different about it. Its was indescribably amazingly tasty.
Anyway thats it for Sydney, only 10 days and its time to get closer to Antarctica.
Bye for now!!
